Hot Sands and Hotter Looks: the best of the Dune premiere

Words by Bibs Malone, Writer

With the pandemic slowly coming to an end, celebrity events are returning. The famous red carpet movie premiere is one event that both film and fashion lovers have missed dearly. The new James Bond film, No Time To Die excited people worldwide with its grand movie premiere and iconic fashion looks. Now, the film ‘Dune’ has a chance to contribute to pop culture with its movie premiere in London. Actors from the film and other celebrities rocked the red carpet with some looks that will be remembered for the rest of their careers.

The star of Dune is the beloved actor Timothee Chalamet. The actor who plays the character Paul Atreides has always been known for his eye-catching outfits. However, Chalamet’s outfit for the premiere was less eventful: wearing black head-to-toe, with the focal point being silver zippers. The look is very different from his last, colorful looks, yet, the outfit still fits his edgy image.

The fan-favourite actress of the movie, Zendaya, looked stunning on this red carpet. The actress wore an eye-catching Rick Owen dress. The classy hair and makeup complicated the dress, and overall a very put-together and beautiful look. Zendaya’s look gives us a “futuristic” vibe and is very fitting to the genre of the film.

This next look, I’ll admit I’m 100% biased because of it being both my mom’s and my mutual crush. Jason Momoa stars in the film as the character Duncan Idaho. Momoa rocks the red carpet in a burgundy suit by Henry Poole & Co. The suit paired with the actor's famous long hair gives the familiar vibe that we all know and love. Momoa as an actor has always given off the persona of a big yet fun guy, and this red carpet look continues that trend. My crush on him has only grown by this look!

Rebecca Ferguson plays Lady Jessica Atreides in the flim, and her red carpet look only confirms that she is a lady both on and off the screen. Ferguson wears a black Carolina Herrera gown that is truly magical. This looks so amazing because it gives off both the futuristic look that Zendaya had while also looking like something out of a fairytale.

Sharon Duncan-Brewster is another cast member who looked flawless on the carpet. She wore an elegant white dress with a leg-slit. Though this dress might not be as flashy as the other others, it is still breathtaking to look at. Duncan-Brewster looks like the definition of exquisite in this ensemble.

In all, the ‘Dune’ red carpet in London was a wonderful reminder of the pre-pandemic fashion. It is incredible to see life getting back to normal and being inspired by actors’ unique looks.
