Not Your Average Christmas Party
Article Written by Vanessa Silvera and Gabriella Sotiriou
Now we all know that 2020 has been a bit of a weird one to say the least and that means the usual ‘Christmas Party Lookbooks’ that flood the internet every December probably won’t be happening this year seeing as neither will the actual Christmas parties. But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any celebrations to attend over this upcoming festive period. They’ll just look a bit...different. This season, we’ve put together a collection of chic holiday-esque outfits you could wear for any special events you have coming up over the next few weeks. So, if you’re looking for some 2020 appropriate fashion inspiration or ideas for socially-distanced (but still fun!) events to host - we’ve got you covered.
Ugly Jumper Competition
What’s Christmas without Christmas jumpers? Whether it be an in person family comp, a festive fight between friends, or a workplace face off, there’s likely to be at least one instance in December where you’ll be expected to don your best (and by best - we do mean ugliest) Christmas jumper. Stuck for ideas? Here are a few of our top picks:

Not Another Zoom Quiz (Christmas Edition)
Thanks to ongoing government restrictions, Christmas will look quite different for many families this year. And despite having taken part in what feels like hundreds of Zoom quizzes, it doesn’t seem as if they’re going anywhere anytime soon! So let’s get ready for some virtual seasonal fun. We’ve found some ways that you can dress to impress - even via a very pixelated screen. I mean, what’s Christmas without your auntie exclaiming ‘Don’t you look all grown up!’
This gorgeous silk top comes in three colours and is perfect for those occasions when you only have to appear from the waist upwards.
Headband, £29.50, Oliver Bonas
Impress with some Christmas glitz that works perfectly for the webcam with this amazing headband from Oliver Bonas. And it means you don’t have to spend an hour doing your hair - bonus.
Want to keep it really simple? Chuck on some statement earrings and you’re ready to go. These ones are particular beautiful and very festive.
Virtual Date Night (Pigs in Blankets Edition)
Sadly many couples won’t be able to celebrate the holidays with all the usual festivities. With many of our regular date night haunts closed until the new year, it looks as though we’ll be turning to good old Facetime to spend time with our other half. Virtual date nights can be whatever you choose to make them - dress down with pizza and Netflix Party or dress up and enjoy a candle-lit gourmet home cooked meal. Whichever you prefer, we’ve got some outfit ideas for you to check out.
Floor your date with this stunning sparkly number, which can be paired with high-waisted jeans, black leather ankle booties, and pared-down jewellery and make-up.
Or, alternatively, if you decide to dress down tonight, upgrade your usual loungewear and throw it back to the early 2000s. You can buy both pieces together or separately!
The BIG Christmas Shop at Tesco
Just because it’s 2020 does not mean that we’re skipping out on our Christmas dinner. You only have one month of the year where you can have pigs in blankets and we’re not missing it! But before you can tuck into that tasty turkey, you need to buy it - and that means the dreaded Big Shop. Tesco’s is packed, it’s freezing cold out, there’s only the scrawny little brussel sprouts left and you’ve forgotten your bloody reusable bags. However, this is what Christmas is really all about. And we’ve got some recommendations that will hopefully make the most festive grocery shop of the year slightly more bearable.
Let’s face it, you’re going to need a warm coat to get you from the car to the shop and then around those freezing aisles. This one looks warm and stylish.
Keep your Christmas shop planet friendly this year with these cute personalised shopping bags. It would also make a great last minute gift for any family.
We love the colour of this beanie! It’s sure to keep your head warm whilst your rack your brains over whether you’ve forgotten anything essential.
Socially Distanced Christmas Tree Farm
We all know that Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas until that big green tree goes up in the living room. Whether it be your trusty fake branches coming out of a box or a real fir tree strapped to the back of the car, decorating the tree is one of the most festive activities that you can do. If you’re part of the latter group and have yet to choose your needle-y friend, which can sometimes take a good part of the day - trust us, we’ve been there - get hyped and maybe look fabulous enough to snap a few pics for the gram whilst you’re at it.
Stay warm while picking your tree in this fuzzy parka, which comes in four colors: black, olive green, cream, and light tan. While the price tag might be steep, it’s good value for money since you’re getting three jackets in one!
Top your jacket or coat of choice with this classic cashmere scarf for an added layer of warmth and chicness.
Cocktail Night (ft. Bad Wifi Connection)
Been missing nights out with the girls over the past few months? We certainly have - but don’t worry! Thanks to the beauty of virtual calls you can have Christmas cocktail night with all your pals like any other year (almost). So mix your tipple of choice, put on your sparkliest garms and get ready to dance and laugh the night away. And the best part is - there’s no dizzying taxi journey from the bar to your bed. You’re already at home!
Introducing a LBD with a twist: complete with bold florals, balloon sleeves, and a universally flattering cut - what more could you ask?
Channel your inner Bella Hadid this winter with a pinstriped suit, similar to the one she wore earlier this year in Paris on a night out (remember those?)

Christmas Baking (But Make it Glam)
Christmas cookies are one of the best bits of the holidays, I’m sure you all agree. Seeing as we’re all at home slightly more than usual, there’s unlimited time to spend slaving over the stove whilst listening to Last Christmas on repeat. These outfit ideas are perfect for looking cute whilst cooking up something sweet (and then sitting in front of a Christmas film and eating it later).
It doesn’t get comfier than this - a borg lounge set. This will keep you toasty whilst you bake and means you can go straight to the sofa to eat your sweet treats.
These look like heaven. And we love that they’re a great sustainable option!
